This path is two kilometres long. The official path at the “Grubet”-House is marked with little destination boards. A squirrel named “Aichi” was chosen as an emblem for these boards. This recalls the name of the city “Aichach”.
The path leads us south-west to the so called ore mine, which documents the early ore mining period in the “Grubet” in a very impressive way. Along the deserted “Spechthöhle” (a cave), visitors reach the deer park, which has been integrated in the path, as an additional attraction. Furthermore, the path leads along the edge of the wood due east to a very beautiful resting place with a spectacular view over the landscape.
At the next station, visitors can experience the element water, restricted resource that it is. The following path, which facilitates walking barefoot, demonstrates the different kinds of forest soils. The theme of another station is nature preservation in the forest and the utilisation of lumber resources. The path goes on in a northerly direction until the station of the “resounding wood”. This is a location where one can experiment with different woodwind instruments.
At the last station there is a showcase, where recent comments and photographs of visitors are published.
The chosen path offers a lot of variety. It leads the visitors through the forest, as well as through open areas, where numerous nesting boxes for indigenous birds.
The length of the path is about 2000 metres, so vistors have plenty of time to digest their experiences without necessarily examining every station closely. Futhermore, there are no steep hills along the path, rendering it amenable to the elderly. It takes about an hour to go through all stations.
The path is maintained by the "Grubetfreunde" of Aichach, the Aichach Forestry Office and the Aichach Municipality.
